Former Karnataka chief minister and BJP leader BS Yediyurappa's granddaughter Soundarya was found dead hanging in her Bengaluru apartment on Friday. Soundarya, the daughter of Yediyurappa’s first daughter Padma, was in her early 30s and was a doctor by profession. Soundarya, who was living with her husband, a fellow doctor, and a six-month-old child in an upscale apartment, was reportedly suffering from postpartum depression and the family knew about it.
Preliminary investigations revealed that it was a suicide case and did not come across a death note from the place of the incident. The incident came to light at around 10.30 in the morning when the Soundarya's servant repeatedly knocked on the bedroom door and alerted security personnel of the apartment when there was no response.
After they broke open the door, she was found to be hanging. Though she was rushed to a private hospital, Soundarya was declared dead and the body was shifted to Bowring hospital for an autopsy. A close friend of the family, Dnyanendra said that Yediyurappa was really upset over the death of his granddaughter.
