Nutan Naidu, the former Bigg Boss Telugu contestant, was on Friday arrested by the Vizag police in Karnataka's Udupi. The businessman and Telugu film personality was wanted in the case of an atrocity against a 20-year-old Dalit man named Srikanth. Very recently, Naidu's wife Priya Madhuri presided over Srikanth's harassment at their residence in Vizag. She got his head tonsured. She and seven others have since been arrested under various IPC sections and clauses related to the SC/ST Act based on CCTV footage.
Visakhapatnam City Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha on Friday said that Naidu was being traced for days. He was located in Udupi based on some evidence. After producing him in a local court, the police secured permission to bring him to Vizag.
A daily report said that Naidu had been planning to flee to Mumbai in order to escape arrest. The police believe that it was at his behest that his wife and others got Srikanth harassed mercilessly.
Naidu and his wife suspected that Srikanth, who was working with them as a servant boy, had lifted a costly mobile phone. He was beaten up for hours before a barber was called in to humiliate him further.
