Former AP Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya arrested in kidnap case

Bhuma Akhila Priya, the TDP leader and former Tourism Minister, has been arrested by the Hyderabad police in connection with the kidnap of three individuals. Praveen Rao and two others, who have had a running land dispute with Akhila Priya, were allegedly kidnapped on Tuesday night by eight men, all of whom are now in a police custody.
The victims are said to be related to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. They have had a dispute with Akhila Priya and her husband Bhargav Ram over a 50-acre plot in Hafeespet. The worth of the land is said to be upwards of Rs 100 Cr. AV Subba Reddy tried to broker a truce between the two parties but to no avail.
Besides Akhila Priya, her husband's younger brother Chandrahas, too, is reported to have been arrested. Her husband, however, is absconding.
Praveen Rao is a former national hockey player. It's alleged that the kidnappers tried to extract a signature from him on documents under duress. He refused to do it and was saved by the police at Vikarabad. He and his two brothers were allegedly taken in a car with their faces covered by pieces of black cloth. For several hours, they were moved from one place to another. The kidnap took place at Bowenpally. The kidnappers posed themselves as IT officials.
