Automobile zealots of India are in for a major disappointment as FCA decides to stop production of the slow selling Punto and Linea of the Fiat brand. Introduced to India in 1948, the brand has been selling 16 models (2 of which are combined with Tata). This decision was the result of auto giant shifting its focus on Jeep brand which has been having a strong run since the launch of Compass SUV. Hence, FCA India is planning to introduce two more SUVs under the Jeep brand, of which one will be a sub-4 meter model. Fiat will be the second biggest brand of automobile leaving India, following General Motors.
