Expectations
John Abraham is known for his association with many good action oriented films right from 'Dhoom' to 'Dishoom'. His hulk sized physique works in favour of such films and makes them totally convincing.
'Force' was among those hit films where the expectation level was minimal and it managed to surprise everyone due to its raw action and emotional connect. Thus, right from the announcement to the trailer of 'Force 2', the expectations were high for all those who love action films.
Story
'Force 2' is a story revolving around the mysterious killings of Indian intelligence, R.A.W officers in China. A special team is formed by R.A.W chief Anjan Das (Narendra Jha) consisting of a R.A.W officer K.K (Sonakshi Sinha) and ACP Yashwardhan (John Abraham). Yashwardhan gets a lead which connects to the Indian embassy in Budapest. With their expertise, Yashwardhan and K.K gets hold of Shiv Sharma (Tahir Raj Bhasin). But things do not go as Yashwardhan had expected as Shiv Sharma has something else planned for all the R.A.W agents.
The 'Glitz' Factor
The story reminds you of the 'Mission Impossible' series and has been presented in a totally stylish manner. The first half works well by establishing the basic plot line along with some fantastic action and chase scenes involved in it.
The entry fight scene of John reminds you of the raw and hard-hitting action from 'Force'. The thriller quotient in the first half of the film is tight and totally crisp. There are some highly engaging scenes which keeps you glued to the silver screen. These scenes are presented with total conviction and keeps you engaged in the film.
The movie is brilliantly shot and has been presented in total international style. The long and top shots in the chase sequence followed by the Counter Strike styled action in the finale are one of the best action choreographed scenes from the film.
Background music works in the favour of the film.
Director Abhinay Deo returns back to big films after a long gap and surprises everyone by giving us some fantastic action scenes in the film.John Abraham is fantastic and performs amazingly in all the action scenes. Adil Hussain, Raj Babbar, Boman Irani, Nasir, Fawad and Patrica are fine in their small parts.
The 'Non-Glitz' Factor
The second half starts to go on the repetitive mode due to Tahir's nonstop blabbering in the car followed by phone calls. The movie keeps dragging from one point to another in the second half. Also, the glorifying past of Tahir was totally melodramatic and lacked the conviction factor.
There were few continuity jerks in the film and also has some unexplained tracks. Tahir's ability to carry out such a huge mission looks unconvincing along with the artificial climax, which is totally impractical and unwanted. There is minimal scope for music in this film. Despite of which one does to see only, the item song performed by Patrica followed by the end credit song.
Director Abhinay Deo focuses more on the action and forgets to narrate a dramatic tale required for such thriller. The soul of the film goes totally missing in the second half. Also, the raw and intensity of 'Force' is nowhere to be seen in its sequel.
Sonakshi Sinha tries hard to look stylishly cool, but fails miserable. Tahir Raj Basan starts off brilliantly, but slides downward as the movie progresses due to repetitive scenes and weak characterization. Narendra Jha is wasted.
Final 'Glitz'
'Force 2' has some power-packed action and some power-less emotional scenes due to which the movie ends up being only a one time watch.
