Flop leads to hits

Success, we know, leads to many fights.

But as Dhairiyam has shown us, even failures beget the same fate.

The Teja-directed Nitin-starrer has bit the dust at the box office. And there is nothing left to salvage bar the shouting.

Shouting is what the director's camp and the producers' camp are doing. Both have launched police complaints against the other.

Teja's wife, Srivalli, went to the police and told them that the producers had been threatening them to either cough up Rs.3 crores or else face consequences. The money being bandied about is the amount that the producers want as compensation for the film's failure.

The producers are alleged to have threatened Teja himself when he was in Rajamundry where he was shooting for his next film.

On the other hand, the producers, led by V L Sridhar (an executive producer) has lodged a complaint with the police that Teja's fans were threatening him. He said that the film suffered innumerable losses owing to the tardy work of Teja.

Teja, he alleged, dragged the film, overshot the budget and in general did everything to incur loss for the producers. Incidentally, one of the producers of the film is Sudhakar Reddy, the father of the film's hero Nitin.

Nitin is a find of Teja and he owes it all to the maverick director. But he himself seems to be unimpressed with his mentor now.

The matter has also been taken to the MAA president Mohan Babu.

The latter, who has acted as Panchayat chief in many films arbitrating on sensitive cases, may very well need all those acumen to finalize this.
