Well, for the not-so-frequent air travellers, managing to remember all those eccentric flight rules might be a tad difficult. And honestly, one might even forget in the midst of the hurry to catch a flight. As sad luck and an unfriendly fate played havoc, a passenger had to shell out $500 (over Rs.30,000 INR) as a fine for carrying an apple. Yes, we repeat, for carrying an apple.
Crystal Tadlock, after getting off of the Delta pane in Minneapolis from France, had to board a connecting flight to Denver next. Tadlock thought it would be innocuous to carry a snack(from in-flight service). However she was stopped by a Customs and Border Protection Agent as most of the fresh produce are considered to be a customs violation.
Even though she said that the apple was gotten from Delta’s in-flight meal service, the officer didn’t seem convinced.Tadlock has been slapped with a fine of $500 and hopes that even if she ends up paying the fine, some good will come out of her situation, . . like the airlines putting a note in the bag about the apple. (Really, you need a note to remember it after all this?)
