Gopi Sundar is exceptional as a rerecording artist. His contribution to the success of films like 'NoteBook' and `Big B' were much lauded. And when it was heard that the talented rerecording artist is finally becoming a full time music director, every music lover was loaded with much expectations. But after hearing the tunes that he had given to his debut movie 'Flash', one don't find much reason to get over joy.
One of the first things that excite a listener is the presence of names like Karthik, Anuradha Sriram, Gayathri and Vineeth Srinivasan who share the songs within them which itself guarantees some soulful melodies. The album is slightly overdone with monotonous slow themes, which may find difficult to climb the charts. Gopi has gone for the classy way of presenting himself, selecting more complicated tunes and mix up of ragas, than going for more popular beats. The album offers much freshness, but the rather slow pitched tunes except a couple, may find it hard to gain an instant support from the audience.
Arikil Nee (Karthik)
The album starts on a high note with this romantic solo, sung with feel by Karthik. This is a fresh and difficult song to create, even though it is a take of some other songs like that of 'Note book'. The song is delightfully orchestrated with simplicity, as the soft takes of the andharas will impress you .This is definitely the pick in the seven song album.
Nin Hridaya Mounam (Vineeth Srinivasan)
This is an impressive song, another one soulfully rendered by Gayathri. The song has some of the best imaginatively yet simply phrased lyrics by Rafeeqe Ahammed, made appealing by the easy flowing, flawless vocals. The song even though good, may take time to climb charts of audience approval. The song is repeated in the voices of Vineeth Srinivasan, whose crooning is also appealing.
Pulari Pon Prave (Anuradha Sriram, Jake)
Anuradha Sriram after a gap sings in this song in her gleeful voice. Even though her accent still is perplexing, with an anglican touches, Jakes Bejoy's youthful voice support this duet, breathing all the good air to make it better. It doesn't quite hit the mark, coming anywhere close to the chart buster status that songs from Mohanlal films achieve. In fact, at an instance or two, the song also resembles the kind of music which Deepakdev has created in the past.
Aye Poocha Karim Poocha (Anvar Sadath)
This is basically a funny song rendered by Anvar Sadath. The song is an average stuff with non worthy lyrics. This may appeal to the kids due to its playful setting; more will go with the movie situations.
Minnal kodiye (Smita Nishant)
Smita Nishant builds on the melodious feel of the album with "Minnal Kodiye" which is a heavily orchestrated soft rock song ala''Zombie'' with funky beats. Very urban and belonging to new age music , it has a inspired violin rendering as it's base instrument which works good with the debutante's heavy vocals.
Raavoru pakshy (Dev Avand)
Dev Avand is recently tied to these kinds of songs, even though he has done justice to his selection. This slow number is also a mediocre number. Music director Gopi Sundar seems to be much impressed by his guru Ouseppachan that he has followed his recent styles of orchestration, to the core in almost all the songs
There are around three songs that are following the slow beats in the album. Deliberately hearing it for a number of times, will only help many of the songs to get it started, in our minds. Except ''Arikil Nee'' and ''Nin Hridaya Mouna
