The Kerala Christian community has been shell shocked by an incident where five to eight church fathers have sexually exploited a woman using her confessional secret to blackmail her.  It is the tradition of the Catholics to confess their sins to a church priest and it is mandatory for them to maintain utmost confidentiallity and never reveal it to anyone.  But these five priests have not only used the woman but also passed on the message to other priests also to take advantage of her.

The five priests have been suspended by the Malankara Orthodox Church and the authorities have formed a committee to probe and take further action against them.  The husband of the woman who is raising the issue on social media has stated that the priests have forced his wife to spend on five star hotel rooms to satisfy them.  He has stated "“I was told that the maximum punishment will be that they will be suspended. That is not enough for me, I want them defrocked, no other church should take them in. They should be punished so that no one else does this,”

No police complaint has been lodged and the Church authorities have washed their hands off by saying it is the victim who should file a complaint.
