Tensions created by anti-CAA and pro-CAA protests caused violence and rioting in Delhi on Monday. The latest reports coming out on Tuesday said that five people, including four civilians and a police head constable, lost their lives in the violence at North-East Delhi.
About 105 got injured in the clashes that couldn't be controlled for several hours.
Steps have been taken to contain the spread of violence, Delhi Police have said. "Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar will continue to remain closed. Trains are being terminated at Welcome metro station," ANI today reported.
On its part, the BJP has suggested that the Delhi violence has been timed to coincide with the visit of Donald Trump. Kishan Reddy, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, said that there is a conspiracy to defame India internationally. He demanded that Rahul Gandhi should reveal the identities of the individuals who have caused the violence.
AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has condemned the violence and said that this "is a shame for the country that violence broke out when foreign dignitaries are on a visit here."
