The 57th National Film awards declared on Wednesday in the chairmanship of Ramesh Sippy have given good news for people of Karnataka.

Five National awards – ‘Putani Party’ as best children film, best screenplay for Dr Girish Kasaravalli and Gopalakrishna Pai for ‘Kanasemba Kudureya Benneri’ best regional cinema ‘Kanasemba Kudureya Benneri’ directed by Dr Girish Kasaravalli and produced by Basanth Kumar Patil the sitting Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President, a book on cinema history written by K Putawamy ‘Cinemayana’ and Arundhathi Nag who hails from Karnataka bagged the best supporting actress for ‘Paa’.

Five awards to Kannadigas brought some encouragement to serious and dedicated film makers in Karnataka.

Ace directors MS Sathyu and TS Nagabharana were in the awards committee of 57th National Film awards.
