Instances of men entering into sexual relations with women on the pretext of marrying them in the future have come to light over the years. As per a High Court verdict, physical relations sustained by making false promises to enter into a marital relationship tantamount to rape.
A small-time Tollywood actress, whose name has been withheld by the Mumbai police, has accused a fitness trainer named Aditya Ajay Kapoor of running an affair with her on the pretext of marrying her. Kapoor allegedly reneged on the promise after the woman requested him to take their relationship to the next level by marrying her.
The two had come into each other's contact in Mumbai's suburban Bandra. The actress, who has reportedly done a few less-known Telugu movies, became friends with the fitness trainer. They entered into a relationship. But the boyfriend allegedly turned abusive after she spoke about marriage.
Rape clauses under the IPC have been invoked to book Kapoor. And relevant sections of the IT Act have also been invoked because he allegedly sent obscene messages to the victim and her parents.
