First look trend picks up

Producers these days are leaving no stone unturned to use every opportunity coming their way to intensify the audience interest around their movie. In the recent months, we have witnessed that in the case of Panjaa and The Businessman, both which sought to create a sensation by going for an orchestrated unveiling of first look, first trailer, etc, on important dates.

Panjaa's producers created a trend by announcing the date on which the audience can expect the first look well in advance. They would let the news out about when the title will be announced and the logo launched, when the first trailer will be released, and so on. That both the title logo release and the first trailer were marked by unprecedented views on the social networking site Facebook and You Tube only gave a fillip to the trend.

Following this, the makers of The Businessman announced that the first look would be released on that significant date - 11.11.11. It was followed by an announcement that a video song of Mahesh and Puri crooning the song would be released. (This was at the height of the Kolaveri Di fever).

After these two films, Pawan Kalyan's producer Bandla Ganesh is planning to repeat the trick. The makers of Gabbar Singh are planning to release the first look on Jan. 5 with much fanfare. Meanwhile, YVS Chowdhary has unveiled South India’s first Digital Poster of his film (Nippu).

It looks like Tollywood is fast Bollywoodising in terms of going for unconventional ways of promoting the films.

Mahesh may work with Mani Ratnam anytime

If 'Prince' Mahesh Babu had a regret in 2011, it is this. He rues the fact that he could not grab the offer made by Mani Ratnam and the Snehithudu offer from Shankar with both hands. In the case of the latter, he had to forgo the bumper offer because the shooting dates clashed with those of Dookudu.
