In a development that can excite commuters, the Indian Railways has introduced its first air-conditioned 3-tier economy class coach. Union Minister Piyush Goyal revealed that the coaches will be economical in nature. Manufactured in Rail Coach Factory in Punjab's Kapurthala, it has got aircraft-style features. 

"Passenger capacity increased with a new design, ergonomic ladder and luminescent aisle markers as well as disabled-friendly toilet entry doors," the Union Minister tweeted out, talking about some of its features. A table with a side berth that makes it convenient to keep food items by the side is yet another feature. 

Every berth (which are 83 in number) has got a personalized AC vent, like in buses and planes. Personalized reading lights are also going to be there to enhance the experience of the passengers. 

The Railway Coach Factory has got plans to manufacture as many as 248 such coaches by the end of March 2022.
