An FIR has been registered against Bollywood star Ranveer Singh following a complaint filed against him with the Mumbai Police for allegedly “hurting the sentiments of women” with his nude photoshoot for a magazine.

The complaint was reportedly lodged by an office-bearer of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) and was filed on Monday. “We received an application from a person associated with an NGO on Monday. We are enquiring,” an official was quoted as saying by a news agency. The report further mentioned that the complainant sought a case against Ranveer Singh under the Information Technology Act and other sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Ranveer Singh has now been booked under section 292 (dealing with obscene materials falls within this exception thereby addressing the issue of public decency and morality), 293 (obscene objects to young person) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) including 67 (A) of the Information Technology act.
