FIR Lodged Against Kannada Actor-Filmmaker Rakshit Shetty

In a recent turn of events, a legal challenge has surfaced for the popular Kannada actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty, as an FIR (First Information Report) has been filed against him for the alleged unauthorized use of copyrighted songs in his movie 'Bachelor Party'. The complaint was lodged by Naveen Kumar, a partner at MRT Music, who claims that two songs titled "Gaalimathu" and "Nyaya Ellide" were incorporated into the film without obtaining the necessary permissions.

The alleged copyright violation came to light when Naveen Kumar, representing MRT Music, filed a complaint at the Yeshwanthapura police station in Bengaluru. It is claimed that despite discussions held in January of this year, no agreement was reached on the lawful inclusion of these songs in the movie. The film, directed by Abhijit Mahesh and produced under Shetty's company, "Paramvah Studios," premiered on January 26.

In response to the allegations, the police have officially registered a case under the Copyright Act, marking the start of a formal investigation. A notice has been dispatched to Rakshit Shetty, informing him of the legal action. Currently, as the actor is out of state for a shoot, the police have decided to postpone the recording of his detailed statement until his return. Until then, the investigation is proceeding as planned.

As investigations into the copyright infringement allegations continue, it remains to be seen how Rakshit Shetty and his team will respond to these serious accusations. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for future copyright disputes in the industry, emphasizing the need for clear agreements and permissions when using copyrighted material.
