About 49 celebrities have offended someone. Back in July, Mani Ratnam, Anurag Kashyap, Revathy, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Aparna Sen, Ramchandra Guha, Konkona Sensharma and others had written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the controversial letter, they alleged that India is seeing growing incidence of hate crimes against minorities.
The letter has triggered an FIR against the celebs. A case filed in Bihar says that the 49 celebs have committed crimes under IPC, including sedition, public nuisance, and hurting religious feelings.
The complainant, a resident of Bihari, had accused the celebs of promoting secessionist tendencies by "tarnishing India's image and talking against the performance of Modi".
Mani Ratnam and others are yet to react to the development. Such FIRs usually end up as a joke. They are quashed in due course of time and courts don't admit frivolous cases involving famous people.
