After the third and final T20 international held at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Tuesday (December 9) between India and Australia, which the latter won by 12 runs, India has been fined 20 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate.
International Cricket Council (ICC) in a statement has mentioned that the match referee David Boon imposed the sanction after India was one over short of the target even after taking into consideration the time allowances.
As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, the players will be fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over failed to be bowled in the allotted time. Captain Virat Kohli pleaded guilty and accepted the proposed sanction.
