Filmfare fetes 'artistic excellence', performances rock

The 65th Jio Filmfare Awards South 2018 event was held in Hyderabad on Saturday. Graced by celebrities from the Telegu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada industries, it was an affair to remember.
Actors Sundeep Kishan and Rahul Ravindran hosted the event. "The high decibel quotient of the evening was amplified by the powerful and captivating performances by renowned artists. Rakul Preet Singh enthralled the audience with her performance for songs like 'Telusa Telusa', 'Pakka Local', among others. Regina Cassandra paid a tribute to the legendary actress Sridevi with a beautiful performance," a statement from Filmfare says.
"Vijay Devarakonda, R Madhavan, Rana Daggubati, Rakul Preet Singh and Regina dominated the evening with their presence. The awards will be telecast on Star Vijay, Suvarna TV, MAA TV and Asianet channel," the organizers say.

As for the winners, 'Baahubali-The Conclusion' swept the awards in major categories. The Best Film award was earned by the Rajamouli magnum opus with ease. The director also walked away with the Best Director crown. The other awards the fantasy drama won are the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) by Rana Daggubati. Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) was won by Ramya Krishna. Best Music Director award went to MM Keeravani. Best Lyrics award went to MM Keeravani for the song 'Dandaalayyaa'.
Vijay Deverakonda trumped senior actors by winning the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) category for 'Arjun Reddy'. Among senior actors, Venkatesh got the Best Actor (Critics) award for 'Guru'. Not so surprisingly, Sai Pallavi won the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) award for 'Fidaa'. The Best Actress (Critics) award was won by Ritika Singh for 'Guru'. As such, 'Guru' got its due in the form of special category awards. Best Playback Singer (Male) was won by Hemachandra for the song 'Oosupodhu' in 'Fidaa'. Best Playback Singer (Female) went to Madhu Priya for the song 'Vachchinde' in Fidaa'.
