It has been a dream of Manchu Vishnu to produce an expensive devotional flick telling the story of the revered saint Bhaktha Kannappa. Marking the auspicious Maha Shivaratri yesterday, iconic actor Mohan Babu announced the project.
"My son will bankroll the movie on a budget of Rs 60 Cr," the senior Tollywoodian said, indirectly making it clear that it is going to be the most ambitious devotional ever in the history of Telugu cinema.
The film is likely to have heavy VFX content. Devotional movies are quite a risky genre. 'Om Namo Venkatesa', directed by K Raghavendra Rao and starring Nagarjuna in the lead, is the last big attempt by Tollywood at the genre.
Vishnu is currently producing 'Mosagallu', an international project, on a big scale. It has Kajal Aggarwal in a key role and is a crime thriller.
