Krishnaraj Rai, father of film actress and model, Aishwarya Rai has passed away on Saturday, reports confirm.

Mr. Rai was admitted in the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai two weeks back, following medical complications. His condition worsened on Tuesday, following which, he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit and kept under a ventilator. Abhishek Bachchan was at New York for work reasons when his father-in-law was admitted to the hospital. Aishwarya Rai was by her father's side all alone, while her in-laws Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan visited. Hearing the news, Abhishek rushed to stay by his wife's side.

Aishwarya's father was previously treated for Cancer at the same hospital. The cancer is believed to have relapsed, causing his condition to deteriorate further. Krishnaraj Rai was an army biologist by profession, and was very supportive & understanding as a father. He is survived by wife Vrinda Rai, son Aditya and daughter Aishwarya.
