When Rebel was formally announced in December, 2010, and went on the floors in January, 2011, nobody saw that the producers would end up with having to splurge something like Rs. 40 cr. Anushka, followed by Thaman, have walked out of the movie. (Thaman's shocker came much later, just two months back).

In the 15 months that have gone by, Rebel has been in news for the wrong reasons. Last month, however, the producers finally let the media know that the film would be wrapped up by May. If everything goes well, June will see Prabhas’s fans heave a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, we can give you a glimpse of what is in store. The flashback episodes were recently shot at a specially-erected set at Shamshabad. It was shot on all the cast - Krishnam Raju, Prabhas, Deeksha Seth, Prabha, Mukhesh Rushi, Supreet and others. A huge Kalika Mata statue formed the backdrop. Over 100 fighters and 1000 junior artists participated in the 15-day schedule, which cost the producers Rs. 2 cr.

Going by the information in the public domain, it appears that the film has a touch of holism. Since the image of Kali conjures up the idea of the killing of asura, we may assume that Prabhas has got a mission in the film - to eliminate evil forces.
