Actor Suriya who had last acted in the action thriller Kaappaan directed by KV Anand, has next completed Soorarai Pottru, which is directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment.

Soorarai Pottru is based on the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath, and besides Suriya, the movie also stars Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal, Mohan Babu, Kaali Venkat and Karunaas. Recently the team had released two songs Maara Theme and Veyyon Silli which have been received well.

The latest speculation making the rounds is that, Soorarai Pottru was initially planned to be released on April 9, and now the team has decided to delay the release by a week and hit screens on April 14, on Tamil New Year. Soorarai Pottru has music by GV Prakash.
