FEFSI withdraws Strike! Employees to return to work from tomorrow
- IndiaGlitz, [Thursday,August 03 2017]
The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) has withdrawn the strike and the film workers belonging to all the 23 unions attached to the Federation will report to work from tomorrow. R.K. Selvamani, the President of FEFSI has just made the announcement about the withdrawal of the strike.
The strike was announced by FEFSi seeking the payment of wages to FEFSI workers on the terms agreed by the previous officebeaerers of the Tamil FIlm Producers Council, against the Producers Council's decision to employ workers who do not belong to FEFSI and a few other demands.
The strike began on August 1, 2017 affecting the shooting of around 40 Tamil films including Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kaala'. The Superstar had voiced his opinion against the strike and called for amicable talks between the two associations. The TFPC did not concede to any demands of the FEFSI. The Labour Ministry of Tamil Nadu had organised for a meeting between the two organisations to resolve the issues. The meeting was about to take place tomorrow (August 4).
But now Selvamani's announcement on withdrawal of strike comes as a surprise.
