The Tamil Nadu Film Producer`s Council sent a press note yesterday stating that a few wings of the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) were making unreasonable demands to producers which result in heavy losses. It was also stated that over the years those factions have not been civil during negotiations and also took to violence and disruptive activities by stopping shootings.

The TFPC has announced that henceforth whatever reasonable wages the council fixes will be paid to the film crews and if FEFSI members object other workers may be employed. With effect from 25.7.2017 producers can employ a crew, according to the demands of the project and not the mandatory number fixed by FEFSI.

The FEFSI is holding a meeting today to discuss the decision of the Producer Council and Kollywood is tense anticipating another crippling strike like the ones in the past.
