Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales said that social media websites can help stop the spread of fake news and said that Facebook should add a feature by which users can see news that they might usually like. He felt that this would help break the echo chamber, a phenomenon where users only see views that they already agree with.
Speaking at a panel at the Viva Technology conference in Paris, France, Wales said that by showing “thinkers, politicians, news, that`s going to challenge,” social media websites can “enrich their users` lives”. He felt that the posts that we see should be thought provoking, at least once in a while.
