Allu Arjun's father-in-law, Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy, joined the Congress party on Friday, along with several other former leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), formerly known as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. This move comes as a blow to the BRS, which lost power to the Congress in Telangana.
Reddy, a former BRS leader in Nalgonda's Nagarjuna Sagar, has been a long-time associate of the party. His daughter, Sneha Reddy, is married to Allu Arjun. Reddy's departure from the BRS is seen as a significant setback for the party, as he was a prominent figure in the Nagarjuna Sagar segment.
Reddy's decision to join the Congress is reportedly due to his dissatisfaction with the BRS's decision to field Nomula Bhagath as the MLA candidate in Nagarjuna Sagar, instead of him. He had earlier held a public meeting in the area to showcase his strength, with the support of Allu Arjun.
Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy after joining the Congress party speaking to the scribes surprised all saying that his son in law, Icon Star Allu Arjun will campaign for him in the upcoming elections and work for his victory. Now it has to be seen whether Allu Arjun will really step in and campaign for his father in law.
Reddy's financial resources and political influence are expected to be a valuable asset to the Congress, particularly in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, it remains to be seen whether the Congress will grant him the Malkajgiri MP ticket, which he is reportedly seeking.
While the Congress is strengthening its base in Telangana, it has faced significant setbacks in Maharashtra, with key leaders such as Milind Deora, Baba Siddique, and Ashok Chavan leaving the party in recent weeks. Deora joined Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, Siddique joined the Nationalist Congress Party led by Ajit Pawar, and Chavan joined the BJP.
