After making a huge awareness through web world, Farhan Akhtar took MARD, his close-to-heart initiative against womens abuse on the fields at the recently held IPL match - Kolkata Knight Riders VS Kings XI Punjab - that took place at Eden Garderns on 26th April.
Now India being a place where Bollywood and Cricket are known to be the 'religions', Farhan easily got the best of both worlds to promote his campaign MARD (Man Against Rape And Discrimination).
During the course of the match nearly 70,000 moustaches and MARD flyers distributed at the stadium which got audiences curious and interested. It turned out to be an amusing site when many were spotted adorning these moustaches.
Farhan later narrated the MARD poem, which in fact was written by his father, Javed Akhtar. Post which, singer Shaan recited the poem in Bengali and Navjot Singh Sidhu narrated it in Punjabi.
The chief idea was to spread the word to as many people as possible. As a matter of fact, the poem is being translated in many more regional languages as well.
Incidentally, Preity Zinta was also present at the match and even though Shah Rukh Khan could not come due to his shooting schedule. Admitted Farhan, that, the idea of getting MARD to a match was stemmed from Shah Rukh itself.
Farhan was delighted to see the awareness among kids increasing as he strongly believes that they are our future and the children of today need to be enlightened and educated on the initiative as much as the older ones.
