Hollywood star Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, have contacted Coronavirus. The news was broken earlier today by the 63-year-old actor himself.

The couple has been in Australia because Hanks had to shoot for a Hollywood movie. "We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and we were found to be positive,” the actor said, leaving his fans saddened.

The duo is currently in isolation at Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland.

Many on Twitter have reacted poignantly to the news. Some took resort in wit. Tommy Johnagin tweeted out, "Tomorrow when your mom texts you that Tom Hanks has the Coronavirus. Don’t tell her you already know. Let her have this one." An optimistic Lewis Tan said, "Tom Hanks is gunna beat coronavirus cause he is a legend, then make a film about beating it."
