Tamil cinema's long time dream became true when the legendary director Mani Ratnam adopted the epic novel 'Ponniyin Selvan' into a two-part live action film series. 'PS1' starring Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Trisha was released on September 30.
The magnum opus movie based on the legacy of Chola dynasty set a new box office record in Kollywood by minting close to Rs 500 crores. It became the highest grossing Tamil film in many areas including overseas. Meanwhile, the fans were eagerly waiting for the post-theatrical OTT release of Ponniyin Selvan Part 1. The latest hot news is that Amazon Prime opened the early access to 'PS1' yesterday in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Currently, Amazon Prime users can rent and watch PS1 on their devices through early access. Also, the streaming giant officially announced that the movie will be available for all Amazon Prime users for free on November 4. But the fans are dissatisfied with rental plan of the OTT. They say that they subscribed to the streaming service to get access to the movie as early as when it ends the theatrical run but instead they are asked to pay rent again.
On the other hand, there is no official notification regarding the OTT release of the Hindi version of 'Ponniyin Selvan 1'. According to the reports, 'PS1' Hindi version might get an OTT release around November second week (Nov 11 probably). AR Rahman composed the musical score of the movie with cinematography by Ravi Varman, art direction by Thotta Tharani and editing by Sreekar Parasad.
