At the outset, the plot of the film seems very simple and common. But the way, it was treated and presented, the film became a cult among the fans. In these 19 years, since its release, many young heroes tried to replicate the same kind of screenplay in their films and referred to "Nadumu scene", "Hostel Room gudumba scene" in many of their films too.

To this date, comedy shows try to use the "Nadumu scene" as the material to spoof. That is the kind of following it acquired. As they say, simplicity touches many hearts, Kushi being a simple film helped it become such easily relatable one too.

For instance, if Siddhu and Madhu were not such strong characters with attitude issues, they would have been boring to watch for 2 hours on screen. Both of them are good people but their grey lies in being egoistic. Adding to it, Madhu was a bit self-centered and highly judgemental too. Her character more walls and shields up against males especially, that it wouldn't have been easy for Joker gang from "The Dark Knight" film to even pierce through her and complete the heist of getting her affection.

Even with her father, she maintains a degree of coldness at times and that is because of the way she looks at people, which is not wrong but little bit annoying. Siddhu on the other hand likes to flow with the wind and has an attitude of a winner. He loses his dream to go to overseas but he recovers from it quicker as it doesn't make him feel like a loser.

At the same time, not making Madhu confess her love for him or not being able to win her over, forces him to feel like a complete loser. Hence, he hates that feeling and tries to cover it under male ego. Well, that is the reason, he leaves everything to go to her village to tell her that he loves her as much as she does, the moment she confesses. Actually, he takes the blessing of her parents and family members to marry her, that is how much he needed her in his life, but he never expressed it to her and she never tried to listen to him.

Even though it is not a sad ending romance, people still remember it more not because of its success or leads likeability, while they were undeniably big factors, writing and execution of the film were from top draw, for it still to make us feel fresh and relatable.
