Last week, a video clip in which 'Sye Raa' actor Vijay Sethupathi is seen commenting on a Hindu temple custom went viral. The clip, in fact, pertains to a reality show that was telecast on a Tamil-language TV channel more than a year ago. After a Hindu Mahasabha leader, last week, lodged a police complaint against Vijay for the "anti-Hindu remark", the video clip went viral on the Internet. As a result, several have been trolling the actor.
Following the development, J Kumaran, the President of All India Vijay Sethupathi Chief Fans Welfare Association, has filed a case against those abusing Vijay for the "offensive joke". He has sought action against those threatening the actor.
As per Vijay's supporters, the "joke" didn't create a flutter when it was shared by a celeb in the past on social media. However, it has offended some only now, he mentioned in the complaint.
The petitioner has urged the authorities to remove all the controversial posts and videos on social media against Vijay, besides taking legal action against the offenders.
Vijay will be seen in 'Uppena', the Telugu movie. He will likely be Allu Arjun's villain in 'Pushpa', directed by Sukumar.
