Simbu and Gautham Karthik starrer 'Pathu Thala' is releasing in cinemas today. In a popular cinema hall in Chennai, some people from the tribal community were denied entry to the theatre screen though they had tickets. The video of the same went viral on social media.
After the video became viral, the audience condemned the act of the theatre staff and urged the theatre management to accept their tickets and allow them to watch the movie. One of the owners of the cinema hall stated that the management had warned the particular staff and allowed the tribal people to watch Pathu Thala on their premises.
He also shared a video of them enjoying the film on their screen on Twitter. The video is doing rounds on the internet. Meanwhile, a statement released on the theatre's official Twitter handle says that their staff denied entry to them not because of their caste but because they brought kids below age 12. It further read that kids under age 12 must not be allowed to watch a UA-certified film.
Replying to the statement, netizens have pointed out that a UA-certified film can be watched by kids under age 12 with the guidance of a parent or any adult. Fans are alleging that the theatre management is trying to twist an act of discrimination into an issue about the film's certification. Several allegations are made against the theatre following today's controversy.
