The language dispute began on social media among the film personalities ever since the Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah stated that Hindi should be the connecting language of our nation. Following this, several celebrities including AR Rahman disagreed with the statement.

Yesterday, there was a debate over Hindi and other languages between a Bollywood star and a south Indian star. Ajay Devgn and Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeep had an argument on Twitter about whether Hindi is India's national language. Also, Ajay Devgn's tweet was disagreed by many other actors.

Ajay Devgn tweeted in Hindi that translates to: "@KicchaSudeep my brother, According to you if Hindi is not our national language then why do you release your mother tongue movies by dubbing them in Hindi? Hindi was, is and always will be our mother tongue and national language. Jan Gan Man."

To which, Kichcha Sudeep replies, "And sir @ajaydevgn,, I did understand the txt you sent in hindi. Tats only coz we all have respected, loved and learnt hindi. No offense sir,,,but was wondering what'd the situation be if my response was typed in kannada.!! Don't we too belong to India sir."

The argument came to an conclusion when Ajay Devgn responded, "Hi

@KicchaSudeep, You are a friend. thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding. I’ve always thought of the film industry as one. We respect all languages and we expect everyone to respect our language as well. Perhaps, something was lost in translation."

Addressing the issue, ace director Ram Gopal Varma tweeted, "The base undeniable ground truth @KicchaSudeep sir ,is that the north stars are insecure and jealous of the south stars because a Kannada dubbing film #KGF2 had a 50 crore opening day and we all are going to see the coming opening days of Hindi films."

'Vaaranam Aayiram' actress Divya Spandana wrote on Twitter quoting Ajay's tweet, "No- Hindi is not our national language. @ajaydevgn Your ignorance is baffling. And it’s great that films like KGF Pushpa and RRR have done so well in the Hindi belt- art has no language barrier. Please enjoy our films as much as we enjoy yours- #stopHindiImposition" (sic).
