It has been said that the management has taken the decision after losses incurred during the pandemic and the uncertainty over the reopening of theatres and the business possibilities after the pandemic ends. This news has shocked theatre going people of Chennai. It has also been rumoured that the Old Washermanpet Maharani theatre might also get permanently closed because of the pandemic.
