In an unfortunate and unexpected turn of events, popular Malayalam actor Anil Nedumangad, known for supporting roles in several blockbuster Malayalam movies drowned while bathing in the Malankara dam in Thodupuzha yesterday.

The 48 year old Anil Nedumangad was in Thodupuzha shooting for the film 'Peace', directed by Sanfeer K and starring Joju George in the lead. As reported by Muttom Police, the actor had gone for a swim in the Malankara dam reservoir after shooting, with two friends.

Reportedly, the incident happened around 6 p.m. Anil had entered the waters while the other two were standing a little away and as Anil didn't return after sometime, a search began and his body was recovered and taken to the St.Mary's Hospital in Thodupuzha. Anil was seen this year in notable movies like Ayyapanum Koshiyum and Paapam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte.
