Family - Ties Of Blood
Early this year when 'Sarkar' was ready to be released. Ram Gopal Verma urged audiences to see it as a family movie rather than a gangster/politician/underworld movie. Now Raj Kumar Santoshi comes up with yet another movie starring Amitabh Bachchan in a central role and aptly titles it as a 'Family - Ties Of Blood'. The movie has an underlining theme of crime, underworld, mafia and rivals with one common factor tying the players together - FAMILY. Amitabh Bachchan-Akshay Kumar combo in family flicks has always worked in a major way - 'Ek Rishta' and 'Waqt' are just the right examples to prove that. Would it work again in Family? Why not when the film is directed by none other than Raj Kumar Santoshi who had earlier brought the two together for commercial potboiler 'Khakee'.
The basic pretext of the movie is straightforward yet carries a great meaning:
We, as a FAMILY, vow to protect each other in the times of difficulty and averse conditions and will always live together We, as a FAMILY, have the POWER to challenge anything and everything that comes in our way We, as a FAMILY, would always be loyal to each other
And if WE not, even fate would betray us!
Viren Sahai [Amitabh Bachchan] and Shekhar [Akshay Kumar] are the heads of two such families who believe in the importance of unity amongst family members and their well being. Both of them are completely different from each other and in fact don't even know each other.
Viren Sahai is a powerful man who is a sophisticated gangster and believes that to be successful in this world, one needs to play his cards well by using the deadly combination of money and might. He is a suave suited-booted cigar chewing man who loves his family to such an extent that he could do anything, and just about anything, to safeguard their interests.
His family comprises of, apart from others, a simple wife [Shernaaz Patel], who knows about her husband's business and regrets it all the way. Though she is simple and homely, she is intelligent enough to differentiate between right and wrong. Other individual who is close to Viren's heart is his son [Sushant Singh], who is wayward, only appreciates crime, and indulges in everything that is wrong due to a simple belief that his father would always get him out of a messy situation, come what may!
But there is one factor that he hasn't inherited from his parents - the sense of being a PART of the FAMILY. Because unlike his parents, for him HE comes first before anything else!
Other family belongs to that of a simple middle class man Shekhar. Shekhar who (unlike Viren) has limited desires, aspirations and demands. If he wants anything in life, it is his family's well being. While he himself takes care of his small family by working in a restaurant's kitchen, his younger brother Aryan [Aryeman] is in his growing up years and is happy as a pampered brat. A cool youngster, he too has a shield of protection around him - his brother Shekhar - and he knows that if he is in trouble, he can always rely upon him. But soon he finds himself in a situation when he has to grow up fast, and pretty fast, because.....
....there is no time left for survival ....everything has to be put behind and only one thing remains to be thought of - FAMILY.
And he soon finds himself grown up overnight to take over the challenge.
Another integral member of this family is Shekhar's wife [Bhoomika Chawla], who is there for everyone in the times of happiness and despair.
Though the two families have nothing in common, fate plays an all important role in bringing the them all together. A tragedy strikes, the feeling of revenge is all around and bodies drop dead at every step. But are the two families stopped in co
