The recent shocking incident where a 11 member family in Delhi killed themselves ritualistically shook the entire nation. One of the reasons that the family members decided to do this so that they can ‘meet God’.

Think that it is a singular incidence? No. Actually back in 2013, a family of eight members in Rajasthan ate sweets laced with cyanide so that they will be able to meet lord Shiva. Reportedly, the family were staunch believers of Kanchan Singh who was all about superstition.

Reports suggests that the family had also decided to perform a ritual of bathing a Shiva idol with blood in order to appease the deity. All the members of the family including the children believed that there was no point in living if they weren’t able to see God in his physical form.

Soon after consuming the sweets five members including three children. Singh’s niece, mother and brother survived.
