Earlier this day, the news of Chennai about to be hit by two cyclones in the ensuing weeks by several media outlets created considerable worry and panic among netizens and public. However, people may not give into undue worry as the reported news were not substantiated officially by the Indian Meteorological department.

Popular private weather expert Pradeep John aka Tamil Nadu Weatherman took to social media to clarify the rumors. Stating that the so called IMD issued statements pertaining  to two cyclones hitting the state from October 7 to 11 and from October 15 to 20 respectively were rumors, he also reminded that the IMD has not yet given a official statement pertaining to the plausibility of the said cyclones.

Contrary to what was said, the north east monsoon is not even set and no onset date announced. It is expected that the Indian Meteorological Department will come up with an official statement putting an end to unneccessary panic among the public.
