It has been alleged by many health activists that a small percentage of Covid-19 test results in the country may be false. Where positive, the test result may come back negative at times. Genuine errors are only to be expected, but at times, recklessness and human folly can't be ruled out.

One such instance has consumed the life of a 51-year-old businessman in Hyderabad. As per a report by The NewsMinute, the businessman's report came back negative in July when he was hospitalized at a private hospital. Since the result was negative, the doctors didn't give him medication for Covid-19 treatment, namely, Remdesivir. Although the patient was suffering from breathlessness and other complaints, he was put on ventilator support but prescribed Covid-19 treatment was not given despite the family members requesting the physicians.

A few days after his passing away, the actual test result came and it was positive. "The report also revealed that the sample collected on July 8, was tested only on July 31 and the report was received on August 7, around a month after the swab test was taken," the news report says.

The family members feel that the patient could have been saved had the swab test result was accurate.
