On Sunday, South Delhi was sought to be laid to siege by violent protesters agitating against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The Delhi Police quelled the anti-social protests by resorting to force. They entered the Jamia Milia Islamia University, where policemen and security personnel were targeted with stones and other weapons by protesters.
On Tuesday, about 10 protesters have been arrested. As per media reports, none of them is a student. And almost all of them come with criminal history! They have been identified with the help of CCTV footage, face-recognition tech, etc.
"It has been alleged by some that the student protests have been infiltrated by non-University members, that is, outsiders. The police got information that violence will only increase, which is why they resorted to force on Sunday night. How did they gain entry into the University campus?" asks a commentator.
