After making the audience smile and laugh with its simplistic portrayal of village life, season 2 of Amazon Prime Video's 'Panchayat' ended on a tearjerking and emotional note. (Spoiler Ahead) The slow and lighthearted theme of the show took a dark turn in last episode when deputy Pradhan Prahlad Pandey's son, a soldier, is killed in action. This was followed by a hard hitting scene depicting grief of a father which left many viewers crying.
Recently, actor Faisal Malik, who plays Prahlad Pandey, talked about what it was like to film that much talked about scene. He told The Indian Express, "Everyone goes through pain, and this is an experience, an emotion that none of us can run away from. We all lose people, and we all feel that pain. I am reading all the messages and am so touched that people could relate to them. It’s one of the most real emotions and if people felt it was natural, we managed to do our job well."
Since Faisal lost his cosuins several years back and his father during the pandemic, he was able to channel some of his real life pain into the character. He stated, “It’s not that I am the only one who has lost a family. There are lakhs of people who go through it every day. And I think the pain of losing someone is unmatched, but it’s also the most normal thing. I didn’t think too hard during the scene as I wanted to make it look real.”
