One Dinesh Babu, living at Thirumullaivayul in Chennai became friends with Manthiramurthy from Thoothukudi on Facebook. After a few days of conversation the two identified each other as homosexuals and Manthiramurthy invited Dinesh to a lodge where he was staying at Vadapalani, Chennai.

At the lodge room while Dinesh and Manthiramurthy were speaking to each other, three men entered all of a sudden and started beating Dinesh. They then allegedly stripped him naked and photographed him and demanded forty thousand rupees threatening that the images would be leaked on the internet. Only after several beatings the gang came to know that Dinesh did not have any money and that made them even angrier and they attacked him even more ferociously. Hearing the cries for help from Dinesh the neighbours called the police.

The police after interrogation have found that Manthiramoorthy and the other three ran a blackmail operation through facebook freindship. They lure unsuspecting young men in the guise of a gay rendezvous and when they arrive they photograph and extract money. The shocking news is that fifteen men have already been their victims in Chennai alone.
