Lal Jose seems to have lost his chemistry of making worthy films whenever he is in company with his favourite star Dileep  with whom he has made big hits like `Chandhupottu' and `Meesa Madhavan'. Of late their movies together were all poor at commercial front . Following this line of flicks like `Mulla' and `Spanish Masala' is his latest for this Christmas `Ezhu Sundhara Rathrikal'. A movie made like a Hollywood drama, it fails in emitting any sort of emotions on the viewers or among the characters on screen.

The movie written by James Albert showcases the issues faced by a man, just seven days before his marriage . Dileep is Aby , a known name in the advertising world. He is all set to marry Ann (Parvathy Nambiar)  one of the models that he has introduced. Exactly seven days before their marriage, when Aby floats a bachelor party he gets to know that his past flame Sini(Rima Kalligal) has returned to the same city. On a spur of a moment, Aby decides to walk to her house and to invite her to his marriage. This kickstarts certain unprecedented happenings, which may create tension to  Sini  and her husband boxer Tyson Alex (Murali Gopi). Aby and Sini now starts to somehow evade the impending issues which generates more problems for each of them.

And off course, there are plenty of subplots ranging from Aby's close friend  Franco (Tini Tom) and his doctor wife Daisy (Praveena),  and the police officer in love with Ann (Sreejith Ravi), the strange lady bike rider and Baijuraj (Anil Rajgopal), which all is heaped up to create a complex tale, which but loose sheen by the midway.

The movie is basically a confusion drama, with artificially made up situations poping up every now and then without logic. The dialogues which are indented to evoke laughter doesn't necessarily do so always and the lack of energy in the entire narratives add to the woes of the viewer. The only points of the movie where its sails effectively seem to be the last 40 minutes in the first half, which but grips you with least predictability quotients. There are a few hilarious moments in between, but the mood doesn't get any better in the later half, as we look in disbelief how even a gifted director and a talented crew can spoil the show. The way it all settles out in the final is painstakingly amateurish as the viewers really lookout to somehow end the proceedings that has nothing worthwhile to tell.

As usual with every Laljose film, the technical sides are good. There seems to be more unwanted wide shots across scenes which affects the pacing and emotions. Pradheesh's shots are good Prashath varma's BG Scores are effective, but there is a definite lack of chart topper songs that is the usual highlight of every Laljose movie. . The animated sequences and short spoofy remake of songs that are expected to be side-splitting doesn't work well as expected and at time projects out like a sour thump.

Dileep is at the best , just ok for the role where our next door man is expected to be more stylish  roaming around in a BMW, while Rima Kallingal looks gorgeous but at times is more serious than required. Murali Gopi is effective while Parvathy Nambiar doesn't make any big impact though she has an impressive smile.Anil Rajagopal who appears in a few scenes turns out to be the scene stealer, while Suraj, Harishree Ashokan and Dileep's gangs of friends around including Tinitom and Arun appears big misfit for their roles of sidekicks who works around the hero.

Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal, may not get a decent run in the Box office, though a fine crew is behind it .Though it has its moments and a workable base plot, the translation to screens demands much more to make it a feel good stuff. It seems that Dileep is finding it difficult to gather viewers, everytime when he tries something different from his regular comedy stuffs.
