Sharrat Marar has been producing some of the latest web-series on various OTT platforms and this time he came up with a new web-series that is titled, Expiry Date. It features Tony Luke, Sneha Ullal, Madhu Shalini, Ali Reza among the cast. This can be seen as a comeback to acting for Sneha Ullal after a brief hiatus. Let's discuss the series...
Story:
Expiry date deals with the stories of two married couples who are the edge of the expiry of their relationships. Vishwa (Tony Luke), a successful businessman, gets to know that his wife, Disha (Sneha Ullal) has been cheating on him for a few months. He changes into a highly disgruntled person from a happy man. His whole world collapses in front of his eyes.
On the other hand, Sunitha (Madhu Shalini) puts up for a long time with her womaniser husband, Sunny (Ali Reza). One day, both Vishwa and Sunitha kill their better halves. Investigative Cop Deva tries to dig up the details that these two hide about the murders.
Analysis:
Writer and Director, Shankar Marthand tried to explore the idea of a relationship reaching the expiry date. Even though there are few clichés here and there, the story explores the idea of a couple going through various issues with utmost honesty.
Screenplay and the direction gets gripping as we follow the series. From the middle of the series, story gets gripping with the twists and turns. Director tried to organically build on them without giving in to the temptation of going for huge irrelevant reveals.
Performances by Tony Luke, Madhu Shalini are the best among the cast. All others also tried their best to deliver to the requirements of the story.
Verdict:
Thriller works due to the performances of the actors and the director's conviction. Watch it for the thrilling factor.
