As the Kerala Film Producers' Association has already started their boycott, not even allowing new movies to start their shoots or completed movies to make a release, Mollywood is thinking hard to reach any kind of solution at the earliest.

Many in the industry have raised their thoughts against the timing of the agitation in the summer vacation period, which is normally ‘sunny days’ at the Box Office. The latest to add the ongoing row is that the exhibitors have now threatened to shut down the theaters from the first of May, if no solution is reached before the said date.

As the distributors and producers are not even allowing other language films to make a release, the exhibitors are doubtful whether there is any use of opening the theaters, without any movies of interest to screen.

All the associations in the industry who are at loggerheads are expecting a big result, when they come together for discussion on this 24th under the auspices of the Film Chamber ,which is a body of producers, distributors and exhibitors of the Malayalam film industry.

The issues have definitely affected the prospects of two high profile projects –‘Pokkiri Raja’ and ‘Katha Thuduram’ -which were eagerly expected by the masses for the next weekend. Sathyan Anthikkad, the director of ‘Katha Thudarum’, had openly expressed his protest on delaying his movies release.

Meanwhile, the rumors are that certain Television channels seem to have decided to make selective buying of TV rights of Mollywood movies. They are now thinking upon suggestions that the channels must buy the rights of the movies, only based on their Box Office performance, rather than their star power. This decision, if forced upon the industry will be a big blow to most of the producers, who produce their movies with half the funds, mostly eyeing on the channel rights that the films fetch even while on their pre- production days .
