Ex-Miss India Prachi Mishra makes her debut with Japinder Kaur's 'Dilliwalli Zaalim Girlfriend'

From Dubai to Mumbai, it has been quite some journey for young Japinder Kaur who is making her foray into the world of Bollywood. An erstwhile assistant to Prakash Jha (with whom she worked on Aarakshan) and boasting of a blooming post production studio in Dubai (which she runs with her brother Tarnpreet Singh - who is also the producer of her debut feature film), Japinder is stepping into Bollywood with Dilliwalli Zaalim Girlfriend.

What makes the film special is the fact that it also introduces ex-Miss India Prachi Mishra as the leading lady. Japinder get talking on how the gorgeous young woman from Uttar Pradesh found her way into Dilliwalli Zaalim Girlfriend, a comic thriller set in Delhi.

"Somehow for their first film, actors look for big names as there is a misconception that big names are equivalent to a launch pad per se. Thankfully, Prachi was not in that zone where she was specifically looking for such a start in Bollywood," says Japinder.

The director adds that Prachi is not playing a conventional Bollywood leading lady part in Dilliwalli Zaalim Girlfriend.

"In the film, Prachi is not playing the stereotype of a super good girl. She is excited about the songs in the film with Honey Singh, Jazzy B, Arijit Singh and all. In the film she has grey shades; she is the root cause of all that happens in the film. Moreover, I think she also felt the comfort of having a female director around. We connected from Day One and are great friends today," she adds.

Come 20th March and it would be interesting to see how the camaraderie plays on screen once Dilliwalli Zaalim Girlfriend, which features Divyendu Sharma (Chashme Baddoor, Pyaar Ka Punchnama), Pradhuman Singh (Tere Bin Laden), Ira Dubey (Aisha) and veteran Jackie Shroff as the other cast members, releases all over.
