Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday evening alleged at a meeting of Opposition leaders that the BJP-led Central government is tampering with the chips in EVMs. "There is tampering even in the case of malfunctioning EVMs," the AP CM, who is expected to lose badly, said.

Kapil Sibal of the Congress said that, in all, 21 political parties will move the Supreme Court. "We can show that EVMs can be faulty. We can prove that they can be tampered with," the senior Congress leader said.

The parties' main demand is that VVPATs of 50 percent of EVMs should be ensured. The EC has been taking steps toward this but it's not possible to implement it this time.

It has to be seen what the SC will say about the issue in the middle of the elections.

The aim of the Opposition is clear: Create doubts and confusion in the minds of gullible voters.
