When the world is finding it hard to get rid of the contagious COVID-19 virus, Vietnam's Health Ministry announced that an even more contagious variant of Corona Virus has been found, which is also very high transmissible. It is also been reported that, the new variant is a mix of the coronavirus strains first detected in the India and United Kingdom.

Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long says, "The new variant is very dangerous," and said that further study was needed to determine the effect of a variant in "real world settings. Before this announcement, Vietnam seems to have been through seven other infectious corona virus variants. But the success story here is, Vietnam have reported only around 6,400 covid-19 infections with a mere 47 deaths. The reasons for this massive feat is their well-run and super efficient public health care system, targetef lockdown and strict quarantine rules operated by the military and the government respectively.

The vaccination rounds in Vietnam is one of the slowest programs in the world, with fewer than 0.1 percent of its 103 million residents having been vaccinated as of now. It is also said that, Vietnam are developing their own "Nanocovax vaccine," which is in it's final stages of testing. Apart from this, it has approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca and Sputnik V shots and recently signed a deal to buy more than 30 million Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses.
