Recently, the European Space Agency's released its satellite images of global air pollution last Friday. Disappointly, the images told a sad story for India, especially the national capital. The satellite shows an alarmingly high level of pollution in the national capital region which was its highest on November 10.

A slew of factor like low wind speed, crop burning and a high moisture content, thermal powerplant emissions, vehicular and construction dust were the prime reasons for the pollution levels to soar up high between November 6 and November 14.

According to Central Pollution Control Board's air quality index, Delhi falls under the 'very poor' category with only a score of 343 out of 500. Regarding this, the Centre has also set up strict rules to adhere for thermal power plants with a deadline on December 7.
